Antoine Swiadek, né en
Pologne en 1909, ordonné prêtre pour le diocèse de Gniezno, fut arrêté pour
avoir défendu la foi pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, alors que la Pologne
était soumise au régime nazi, et fut déporté au camp de concentration de Dachau,
où il mourut des sévices subis, en 1945.

Au camp de concentration
de Dachau en Bavière, l’an 1945, le bienheureux Antoine Swiadek, prêtre de
Gniezno et martyr. Pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, alors que la Pologne
était soumise au régime nazi, il fut arrêté, pour avoir défendu la foi, et
mourut des sévices subis en déportation.

" Toute sa vie
a été marquée par un amour ardent envers la vierge. " Antoine Swiadek
était prêtre dans le diocèse de Gniezno, en Pologne. Aumônier des organisations
des jeunes de bydgoszcz, il exerçait son apostolat avec un zèle qui attira sur
lui l'attention de l'occupant nazi. il fut arrêté en juillet 1942 parce qu'il
était prêtre catholique. Puis il fut transféré au camp de concentration de
Dachau. À la suite des sévices subis, il y mourut le 25 janvier 1945,
conscient, le rosaire en main. Il a été béatifié par Jean-Paul II, le 13 juin
1999, à Varsovie, parmi cent huit martyrs de la persécution nazie en Pologne.
bien d'autres prêtres catholiques de différents pays étaient ainsi pratiquement
tenus en otage à Dachau, et constituaient pour Hitler un moyen d'exercer des
pressions sur Pie XII : ses protestations par radiomessages contre le
nazisme leur valurent des représailles.

The son of Władysław and
Władysława Swiadek; his father was
a wheelwright.
After studying at the seminary in
Poznań, Poland,
he was ordained a priest in
the archdiocese of Gniezno, Poland on 10
June 1933.
He was noted for his piety, determination and hard work. Pastor, youth minister, military
chaplain and Boy
Scout leader at the Saint Stanisława Biskupa i Męczennika parish in
Bydgoszcz, Poland.
When the Germans invaded Poland in
September 1939, Father Antoni
volunteered as military
chaplain to the Polish army.
When his division was defeated, he served as chaplain to Polish prisoners of
war until he was returned to Bydgoszcz. There he concentrated on young people,
preparing children for
their First Communion, and ignoring Nazi regulations that required all liturgy
be celebrated in German. Arrested in
July 1942 for
his continued loyalty to the Church and
his parishioners,
he was sentenced to forced labour in the Dachau concentration camp, and worked
until he died. Martyr.

Antoni Swiadek nacque a
Pobiedziska, nei pressi di Wielkopolskie in Polonia, il 27 marzo 1909. Divenne
sacerdote dell’arcidiocesi di Gniezno e cappellano dei giovani a Bydgoszcz. Nel
luglio del 1942 fu arrestato dai nazisti, che negavano la dignità sia umana che
cristiana. In seguito alle torture subite, morì infine il 25 gennaio 1945 nel
campo di concentramento di Dachau, in Baviera.
Papa Giovanni Paolo II il
13 giugno 1999 elevò agli onori degli altari ben 108 vittime della medesima
persecuzione nazista, tra le quali il Beato Antonio Swiadek, che viene dunque
ora festeggiato nell’anniversario del martirio.

Romano: Nel campo di prigionia di Dachau vicino a Monaco di Baviera in
Germania, beato Antonio Świadek, sacerdote e martire, che, in tempo di guerra,
difese la fede contro i seguaci di dottrine contrarie a ogni umana e cristiana
dignità, ricevendo l’immarcescibile corona.

Kapelan organizacji
młodzieżowych w Bydgoszczy, kapłan wyjątkowej żarliwości apostolskiej.
„Miłość do Matki Bożej charakteryzowała całe jego życie”. Został aresztowany
w lipcu 1942 r. i przewieziony do Dachau. „Był jedną z tych
wyjątkowych dusz kapłańskich, które słoneczną pogodą ducha, czystością charakteru
i głębią życia równocześnie pociągają, ale i onieśmielają,
i zawstydzają” (ks. Jan Ziółkowski). Zmarł 25 stycznia 1945 r.
w Dachau w następstwie udręk obozowych, z różańcem w dłoni.
