Exécutés à Amiens sous l'empereur Maximien. Ils eurent le nez transpercé de broches de fer rougies, puis leurs yeux furent arrachés avant qu'ils soient décapités.
Leur culte fut très populaire comme en témoigne l'existence d'une localité : Saint Fuscien-80680 Les reliques de Saint-Gentien sont à Sains en Amienois (Somme)
"Victoric et Fuscien évangélisèrent Thérouanne et la Morinie. Ils auraient été martyrisés ainsi que Gentien, leur hôte, à une date incertaine à la fin du 3ème siècle ou au début du 4ème siècle. Victoric et Fuscien se rendaient à Amiens pour rencontrer saint Quentin, quand un vieillard, Gentien leur apprit qu'il venait d'être martyrisé. Il les reçut chez lui.. Arrêté, on lui trancha la tête. Victoric et Fuscien furent lourdement enchaînés et torturés avant d'être décapités."

Émules de Quentin, de
Crépin et de Crépinien, Victoric et Fuscien étaient aussi deux jeunes Romains
venus à Thérouanne, au nord de la France actuelle, pour répandre l'Évangile
dont ils avaient reçu le bienfait. Leur succès attira sur eux la haine des prêtres
païens; toutefois par leur parole et leurs prodiges, ils purent amener à la foi
chrétienne un grand nombre d'idolâtres.
Traduits au tribunal du
féroce préfet des Gaules, Rictiovarus, ils subissent un long interrogatoire:
"Quel Dieu
adorez-vous? leur dit-il.
– Nous adorons
Jésus-Christ, Fils de Dieu, qui a sauvé le monde après l'avoir créé.
– Quittez cette folie et
sacrifiez aux dieux, ou bien je vous accablerai de supplices.
– Quand on sert Dieu, on
ne craint pas la mort."
Les deux confesseurs sont
chargés de fers et conduits à Amiens. Là ils sont attachés à un poteau, et on
leur traverse le nez et les oreilles avec des broches de fer. On leur enfonce
ensuite dans la tête des clous rougis au feu, et on leur arrache les yeux. Les
martyrs bénissent Dieu dans leurs tourments. On les jette en prison, croyant
qu'ils vont y rendre l'âme; mais on les retrouve le lendemain vivants, pleins
de force et invincibles dans leur foi: "Qu'on les attache à un poteau!
s'écrie Rictiovarus, et qu'on les perce à coups de flèches." L'ordre
barbare est exécuté; bientôt une grêle de flèches hérisse le corps des deux
martyrs, dont le sang jaillit abondamment sur le sol.
Enfin ils ont la tête
tranchée, et leur âme vole au Ciel recevoir la récompense d'un si généreux
sacrifice. La foule émerveillée aperçut alors les dépouilles mortelles des deux
martyrs toutes brillantes de gloire, et admira la grandeur du Dieu des
chrétiens. Mais son admiration fut plus grande, quand elle vit les deux corps se
lever, prendre dans leurs mains leurs têtes sanglantes et les porter au lieu où
avait été placé le corps du martyr Gentien, leur disciple, victime de la
cruauté de Rictiovarus.

Martyrs (3rd century) Fuscian and Victorious were two Apostolic men who
according to one account preached the Gospel in Gaul with Saint Denis of Paris.
However that may be, they made Terouanne (Saint Omer) the seat of their mission.
At Amiens, where Bictius Varus was persecuting the Christians, they lodged with
one Gentian, who was desirous of embracing the Faith of Christ. Soon after,
they were arrested with their charitable host, and all three died for Christ
about A.D. 287. Their bodies now lie in the Cathedral of Amiens, whither they
were translated by Saint Honoratus.

Three martyrs in Gaul.
According to tradition, Victoricus and Fuscian were Christian mission.
aries to the Morini people of the region. Gentian was an elderly man who
died trying to protect them frora martyrdom. He protested when the troops of
Governor Rictiovarus hunted down Victoricus and Fuscian, Gentian was slain on
the spot. Victoricus and Fuscian wcre tortured in Amiens and then beheaded at
SaintAux-Bois.

FUSCIAN and VICTORICUS were
two apostolical men who came to preach the faith in Gaul about the same time
with St. Dionysius of Paris. They penetrated to the remotest parts of that
kingdom, and at length made Terouenne, the seat of their mission. Going back to
Amiens, where Rictius Varus persecuted the Christians with more than savage
barbarity, they lodged with one Gentian, who was desirous to become a disciple
of Jesus Christ. He informed them that St. Quintin had lately glorified God by
martyrdom. They were soon after apprehended with their charitable host, and all
three died for Christ about the year 287. See their Acts quoted by Ado, and the
Chronicle of St. Bertin’s, extant in Bosquet, l. 4. On the translation of their
relics, see Mabillon, sæc. 4, Ben. and Gallia Christiana. Their bodies were
found laid in coffins in the village Sama, now called St. Fusieu, i. e. St.
Fuscian’s, in a garden. St. Honoratus, then bishop of Amiens, translated them
into the cathedral. Childebert II. at that time king, gave to the church of
Amiens the royal village Magie, about the year 580.

Martiri sotto Massimiano
(morti dopo il 286) in Sama (od. Saint-Fuscien-en-Bois, presso Amiens) dove
erano andati come missionarî da Roma. Sulle loro reliquie, rinvenute (sec. 6º)
da s. Lupicino, il re Childeberto costruì in loro onore una basilica e l'abate
Ebrulfo, con l'aiuto della regina Fredegonda, l'abbazia di S. Fuscianus in
nemore.

Romano: Nel territorio di Amiens nella Gallia belgica, ora in Francia,
santi Vittoríco e Fusciano, martiri.
Vittorico e Fusciano sono due martiri cristiani del III secolo, uccisi in Gallia sotto l'impero di Massimiano. Il loro culto come santi risale almeno al VI secolo, quando venne eretta un'abbazia sul luogo del loro martirio.
Secondo una passio tarda (VIII secolo) e leggendaria, erano missionari e giunsero da Roma nelle Gallie assieme a san Dionigi: recatisi ad Amiens per incontrare san Quintino, furono arrestati, fatti torturare e messi a morte dal governatore Rizio Varo.
I loro corpi vennero rinvenuti nel VI secolo da san Lupicino e sulla loro tomba
Childeberto I fece erigere una basilica; l'abate Ebrulfo, con l'aiuto di
Fredegonda, vi fondò il monastero di Saint-Fuscien-en-Bois.

Victoricus var misjonærer i Frankrike som skal ha lidd martyrdøden i Amiens.
Den hellige Gentian, en gammel mann, ble drept da han ville forsvare de to da
de ble arrestert. Minnedag 11. desember.
